For a long time, i have been thinking of learning Muay Thai (Thai boxing) martial arts. I feel, in my opinion, that martial art is particularly important for women's self defence. Of course, one is free to choose the kind of art they want to learn. I was watching BBC documentary on karate a couple of days back. The positioning of your fingers plays an important and how invasive one could break eg: a wood or plastic board... And not forgetting a casade of steps that follows for every step a perpetrator makes towards his opponent. Alertness is extremely important as steps are usually predicted by the opponent... eg: When the perpetrator makes a first move, the perpetrator is able to predict his opponent's step be ( provided his opponent is trained in martial arts skills).
I chose Muay Thai over other martial arts for two simple reasons. Firstly, its an ideal martial arts that trains equally on both the upper and lower body. Secondly, Muay Thai is ideal for women.
Please feel free to share your experience or opinions on various martial art (eg: Judo, Karate, Teak- Won-D0, etc)
